a surprise around every corner.
Algorithmic Art, Art, C++, Conferences, FITC, Generative Art, Maya 3d, Prints & Paintings, openFrameworks Add commentsi love how unpredictable life can be. i woke up one morning in march and found myself on a plane flying out to meet with golan levin – who orchestrated the art and code symposium at carnegie mellon – in order to show people how to hijack photoshop and illustrator from code and flash.
while i was there, i finally gave in to the gravitational pull of openFrameworks (OF) – a c++ library for creative coding – which i had deliberately avoided for too long in the same way i avoid video games. you see, i know my weaknesses. if i get to near them, they suck me in. lol.
on a sunny afternoon sitting in classroom, as the breeze blew large black curtains around, i attended a workshop on OF given by zach lieberman, theo watson and arturo castro gave a workshop. simply put, it was awe-inspiring. that was a moment where i can honestly say the course of my creative life changed.
with that said, i look forward to seeing golan levin and zach lieberman’s Art, Gesture, Computation, Framework presentation at FITC. in addition i’m intrigued by camille utterback’s Responding to Bodies: My Work is Watching You. i know mario klingemann’s presentations are always incredible, so i look forward to seeing his latest magic in The Tinkerer’s Box. it goes without saying that joshua will be as entertaining as hell and i look forward to seeing daniel schutzsmith’s marketing your skillz should be worthy.

due to gravitational pull of openFrameworks and the other toolkits, my session at FITC will focus on: glue69: connecting the dots between the toolkits++.
As creative coders, at our disposal is an incredible set of toolkits – openFrameworks, Processing, Pure Data, VVVV and ExtendScript/SwitchBoard/PatchPanel – each with it’s own set of strengths and weaknesses. What happens when we connect the dots between these toolkits? Can we extend what is creatively possible? Can we connect the dots between any of these toolkits and existing applications like Photoshop, Illustrator and Maya?
These are some of the questions that glue69 – a group formed based on a discussion between Golan Levin, Sebastian Oschatz, Dr. Woohoo++ at the Art and Code symposium – are trying to answer. During this presentation, Woohoo will walk you through some of the possibilities and lead you to a place where some of the answers and tutorials are so that you can integrate multiple toolkits and existing creative apps into your box of creative tools.
